Long-form conversation, shot to hold an audience for two hours at a stretch.
The brief
Two hours in one room, and it has to keep moving
A conversation that runs past ninety minutes gives you nothing to cut away to. There is no B-roll coming, no location change, no second act. Whatever holds an audience has to be built into how the room is lit and how the cameras are placed before anyone sits down.
So the setups are built to give the edit somewhere to go. Coverage that can breathe on a long answer and tighten on a short one, light that reads the same in minute four and minute ninety, and a room that looks like somewhere a real exchange is happening rather than a set.
These eleven were shot on location as often as in studio, from the floor of Gigafactory Texas to the house of Caiaphas on the standing set of The Chosen.
